I have an extensive record of engaging in service not just to my home department but also to the University of Minnesota more broadly, the economics profession, and society as a whole. Within my department, I am currently a member of the Communications and Priorities Committees and the faculty representative to the University Honors Program. I am also a member of the steering committee for the Center for International Food and Agricultural Policy. Since 2020, I have served as a member of the University of Minnesota Faculty Senate. I frequently review manuscripts for academic journals; journals I have refereed for in the past include the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Review of Economic Studies, the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, and the Journal of Development Economics. I currently serve as a mentor in the J-PAL African Scholars Mentorship Program. I also regularly provide input and advice to policymakers working on development economics; if you have questions about a development program you are running, please contact me at jkerwin@umn.edu.
